The scientific name of these tarantulas is aphonopelma albostriatum, also known as the Zebra tarantula.

The spider fry is a regional dish in Cambodia and especially in the Cambodian town of Skuon where they are raised.

People would have started eating spiders in the Khmer Rouge years, when food was scarce.

It consists of a crisp outer texture with a soft abdomen. The legs, they contain little flesh. While the head and the body have a white and delicate meat.
